The Generals trotted into their match against Huston-Tillotson (2-3-0, 0-2), fueled by their coach, hoping to produce a better showing than their previous outing. Despite the energy and anticipation building, coach Mackenize Young wanted more from his players.
The message was well received.
LSUA (2-4-1, 1-1) down the conference for Huston-Tillotson 5-1 to notch their first conference win of the season. The win today also marks the first win for interim Head Coach Mackenzie Young as his team celebrates the victory.
Here is how it was won:
The Generals jumped out to a 3-0 lead going into halftime thanks to a quick score by Juan Dorta to begin the scoring onslaught.
Teammate Daniel Torrenegra would provide the ammunition to blow the game open. Torenegra would convert the next two penalty kick attempts to give the home team a 3-0 lead at halftime.
"We needed to put the ball in the back of the net, that is what we lacked on Thursday, but we made up for it today", said Young. "The lead helps us be able to move people around like we want. The response from the team today shows their resiliency. I hope this is the first of many."
The Rams would finally stop the bleeding after Christian Kisukulu via an assist by Mac Justin cut the lead to 3-1. However, that momentum swing would be short lived.
The Generals got back in gear posting two additional goals to increase the lead. Paul Adler via an assist from Daniel Torrenegra would stretch the lead to 4-1. On the ensuing possession Daniel Stevens scored on an assist from Enrique Ruiz giving the Generals an insurmountable lead of 5-1.
LSUA will take on Our Lady of the Lake University Thursday immediately following the Women's game.
