Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Clean Sheet!!!

Women win via shut out 2-0

LSUA (3-3, 1-1) took down the visiting Huston-Tillotson University Rams (1-3-1, 0-2) by a score of 2-0. Thanks to a late surge offensively the Generals were able to secure their first conference victory of the season.

Andressa Araujo via an assist from Theresa Langauer got the Generals on the board first to give them a 1-0 lead just after halftime. For Araujo, she is now just one goal shy of breaking the most goals scored in a career in school history.

Moments later Svenja Klamt punched another Generals score via an assist by Elena McConnachie to put the game out of reach. The Generals headed into halftime tied at zero, but not for lack of trying. LSUA took 7 shots in the first half.

Coach Mark Hammond expressed his desire to see his team take more shots when the opportunity presented itself.

"We talked about Grit a lot and that is one of our core values of the program", said Hammond. "We faced some adversity early, but we pushed through. We had a change of pace and a little bit more attitude in the second half to do what we worked on all week."

The win proved to be the spark the Generals needed as spirits were visibly high after the match.

The Generals are back in action Thursday vs Our Lady of the Lake University.
