The Generals kicked off the New Year at home taking on Xavier for conference play. Unfortunately, the Generals were not able to defend The Fort, falling to Xavier 62-77.
The Generals put up a good fight for the first half of the game starting from
JD Allen's three-pointer to start the game, leading into halftime with a score of 32-28. Coming out of half, a technical foul was called in favor of the Gold Rush that began their offensive rhythm as they scored 42 points in the second half compared to the Generals 30 points.
Jakemin Abney led the way for the Generals, scoring 17 points on the night and
JD Allen followed with 16 of his own. Overall, the Generals shot 40% on the night compared to Xavier's 44%.
The Generals were able to win the battle on the glass against the Gold Rush as they out-rebounded Xavier, 38-29.
Kashie Natt and
Joe Ayo were able to lead the way in boards as Natt grabbed 8 and Ayo grabbed 6.
The Generals will look to getting back into the win column as they take on the Southwest Mustangs, Saturday, January 7
th at The Fort. 4:00 PM is the set tip-off time.
