GULF SHORES, AL- The Generals hit the road to Gulf Shores, AL for a long weekend of softball at the Gulf Shores Invitational. Day one the Generals were able to split falling in game one to the University of the Cumberlands and held strong in game two to come out with the win against Campbellsville University.

In game one against the Patriots, the Generals couldn't match the hot bats from the opposing team, as the Patriots got on the board early with 3 runs in the first inning.
Lauryn McMahon able to respond back with a single up the middle to score
Amber Giddens, but the Generals only able to put up one run. After the Patriots scored 3 more runs in the 3
rdĀ inning, the Generals able to get rolling again as
Tia Holmes sent one out of the park with
Jillian Howell on base putting the game 3-6. However, even after holding the Patriots to no runs in the 4
th, 5
th, and 6
thĀ inning and putting up another run in the 6
th, the Generals fell short at a comeback as the Patriots found their spark again in the 7
thĀ inning putting up 8 runs.Ā

Things changed for the Generals in game two of the day against Campbellsville as
Taylor Spencer took the win on the mound allowing only 8 hits trusting the defense to take care of the rest.Ā Ā Spencer also able to deliver the run to put the Generals on the board as her single able to bring
Amber Giddens home. The Generals took this game 1-0.Ā

The Generals will continue their long weekend of play as they have two games Saturday against Central Baptist College and Thomas University and will finish out the weekend with two more on Sunday against Columbia College and Baker University.Ā Ā
