ALEXANDRIA, LA-The Generals had a great day at home as they were able to complete a series sweep against the Mustangs of Southwest and collect their 2022 Red River Athletic Conference Championship Rings.
The Generals got off to a slow start in game three of their series against the University of Southwest. Southwest able to get on board first in the top of the 3rd, as they took an early 0-2 lead.
The Generals were able to respond in the 4th inning as
Bryson Broussard stepped up to the plate and hit a bomb over the fence in center field while Foote was on base, making it a tied ball game, 2-2.
Moving into the bottom of the 7th, the Generals took the lead for the first time in the game.
Joshua Tinnerello's sacrifice fly out to left field sent
Keegan Garcia home.
However, the Mustangs reluctant to put up a fight, tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the 8th inning, and at this point, baseball fans knew they were in for a thrilling finish.
Stepping into the batters box, General,
Jordan Ardoin hit a double to left field to get
Cameron Daigle home and secure the lead once again.
In top of the 9th, the Generals were 1 strike away from victory, but after some clutch batting from Southwest, followed by some excellent pitching, the game was tied at 4-4 and heading into extra innings.
After 3 extra innings the winner was finally decided. In the bottom of the 12th
Cameron Daigle stepped up and hit a single to left field, and
Julien Kliebert got home from 2nd to call the game. Final score LSUA 5-4 USW.
The Generals now 17-6 in RRAC play, will take on the University of Houston-Victoria at home on Friday April 21st for single game action and return to the diamond again on Saturday for double-header play.
