Generals Season Comes to an End at RRAC Tournament

SAN ANTONIO, TX- In day two of Red River Athletic Conference tournament play, the Generals started off their morning climbing out of the elimination bracket facing Xavier first.Ā
Ā
The Generals came out with the 3-1 win, and coincidentally enough, matched up with Red River rivals, the Wildcats of LCU who ended the season for the Generals despite a strong start.
Ā
Game One: LSUA 3, XULA 1
Ā
The Gold Rush were able to get on the board first in the first inning of play, but 5thĀ year senior Lauryn McMahon stole the show in the second inning with a solo homerun tying up the ball game and giving her teammates the spark, they needed to get the bats going. Although the Generals didn't put up the next two runs until the 4thĀ inning, the Generals defense remained strong holding off the Gold Rush and only allowing them the one run scored in the 1st.Ā
Ā
Game Two: LSUA 5, LCU 7
Ā
The Generals took the lead early as they scored two runs in the second inning and another one in the top off the 4thĀ inning making it a 3-0 ball game in favor of the Generals.Ā
Ā
The Wildcats soon responded in the bottom of the fourth inning after a slow start taking the lead 5-3 over the Generals. The Wildcats able to add two more runs making it a 7-3 game, but the Generals had one last shot of redemption in the 7thĀ inning. The Generals were able to add two more runs to cut the lead, but that is all they were able to get as they fell to their Red River rivals.
Ā
The Generals finished the season with an overall record of 24-21, and this young team will be even more hungry next season.Ā
