The Generals Advance to Championship Game

Sterlington, LA- The Generals Advance to the Championship Game.

LSUA started off their day by taking on local rivals LCU in a must win game. The Generals got off to a hot start as Cameron Daigle got home from a Jordan Ardoin single in the top of the 1st. In the top of the 3rd, Jordan Ardoin once again singled up the middle to get Blaise Foote home. Ardoin then got a well-deserved run of his own to make it 3-0 in favor of the Generals.
In the top of the 4th, Zach Mengarelli hit a bomb of a home run to center field to make it 4-0, but nobody could have expected what was to follow. In the top of the 5th, Bryson Broussard singled to right field and Blaise Foote scored. Jacob Martin then SAC bunted to get Jordan Ardoin home from 3rd base. Alex Guilbeau then singled to right field and Bryson Broussard scored. Zach Mengerelli then once again hit a bomb of a home run to center field with Julien Kliebert and Jack Whitaker on bases to make it 10-0. Blaise Foote then joined the party and hit a homer to right field with Cameron Daigle on first base to make it 12-0. The Generals scored a total of 8 runs in the 5th inning to totally blow LCU out of the content. In the top of the 7th, Zach Mengarelli scored to put the icing on the cake as LSUA took a 13-0 victory. Cameron Daigle pitched a phenomenal 6 innings for the Generals.
 
LSUA then advanced to play another huge rivalry game against LSU Shreveport later on in the evening. The winner of this contest knew they would advance to the championship game so the stakes were high and the pressure was on. LSUA once again started the game strongly as the took the lead in the bottom of the 1st. Zach Mengarelli was the first to get on the board, and Blaise Foote followed as he scored off a passed ball to give the Generals a 2-0 lead. The Pilots then pulled one back in the top of the 3rd to make it 2-1, and then they took a 2-3 lead in the top of the 4th. The Generals then responded in the bottom of the 4th as Cameron Daigle hit a single and Joshua Tinnerello scored. The Generals then regained the lead as Jordan Ardoin singled to right field and Zach Mengarelli scored.
In the top of the 6th the Pilots then tied the game once again, and then took a 4-6 lead in the top of the 7th.  The pressure was on the Generals to respond, and they did emphatically. In the bottom of the 7th, Julien Kliebert stepped up and hit the most important home run of the season with Joshua Tinnerello and Bryson Broussard on base to give LSUA the lead. In the bottom of the 8th, Jordan Ardoin SAC popped up to CF but Blaise Foote sprinted home from 3rd to make it 8-6. The Generals knew they were in touching distance from the championship game, and they selected Blaise Foote to close out the game on the mound. The pilots got 1 run back to make it 8-7, but Foote clutched up and pitched the Generals into the championship game after a phenomenal day.
 
Next up for the Generals is the Championship game against UHV on Tuesday, May 9th, at 1:00 PM.
