NEW ORLEANS, LA- The Generals have moved to an overall record of 7-5 and a conference record of 5-2 after stunning the Gold Rush in a 78-76 victory.
The Generals held their own during the first half of play only trailing 30-32 coming into the second quarter. However, XULA's, Jeremy Lindsey was putting on a show scoring 26 points on the night and helping to extend Xavier's led to 64-46 over the Generals with nine minutes left to play and then up again 73-57 with four minutes left.
Just when all hope seemed to be lost for the Generals, a spark lit up and they climbed back from being down 18 points with the help of taking advantage at the free-throw line and shots falling at the right time. A 3-point shot from
JD Allen with .52 seconds left tied the game, and with 9 seconds left, it's
Kashie Natt who had the steal and score to send the Generals off with a victory.
Natt finished with 20 points and 8 rebounds on the night and his one steal of the night was the game changing play. Allen followed up with 17 points, draining three from behind the arch.
The Generals will now turn their attention to North American as they head to Houston, TX. Tip-off between the Generals and the Stallions will be on January 13
th at 4:00 PM.
