ALEXANDRIA, LA- After a long road stretch the Generals finally returned home to play at The Fort. Taking on the Saints of Our Lady of the Lake, the Generals had an electric fourth quarter draining in 26 points to sail away with the win over OLLU, 68-59.
The Saints came out shooting, pouring in 21 points in the first quarter and continuing to build as the Generals kept chipping away at the Saints lead, but things took a turn in the 4
th quarter.Â
To start the fourth, the Generals trailed 42-46, but a steal by
Amani Gray and quick basket by
Jewel Jones sparked the comeback. Both teams trading baskets, the Generals worked their way into the lead with a three-pointer from
Jewel Jones with 2:00 minutes left to play. As the clock winded down, a pair of techs by OLLU sent Martin-Hartwick to the free-throw line giving the Generals even more cushion with little left to play.Â
Martin-Hartwick had 18 points on the night going 4-8 from behind the arch, and
Jewel Jones also saw double-digit figures as she poured in 13 points. Gray battled on the boards grabbing 11 of the Generals 40 boards and saw 7 assists on the night.Â
The Generals will be back at home on Saturday, January 20
th for Red River Conference match up with the Rams of Huston Tillotson University. Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM.Â
