ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team heads to Xavier (La.) and North American University for the final week of the regular season.
 
"The last week of conference play is always the most interesting," LSUA Head Coach Mackenzie Young said. "There are playoff spots up for grabs and the table is still really tight. We have two tough away trips to close us out and need big performances."
 
The Generals were 1-0-1 last week. They nabbed a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Our Lady of the Lake, before drawing to Texas A&M-San Antonio, 2-2.
 
RRAC TABLE UPDATE
LSUA has clinched a berth to the RRAC Tournament and are currently tied for second in the conference table with 27 points.
 
The Generals are tied with Xavier (La.), increasing the implications for Thursday's match. Leading the conference is LSU Shreveport with 31 points. The Generals have two games remaining for six total points.
 
The top four teams in the RRAC host the opening round of the RRAC Tournament.
 
Behind LSUA with 25 points is Louisiana Christian. They also have a pair of matches remaining on the season. Texas A&M-San Antonio is in fifth with 22 points, while the University of Houston-Victoria (16,) Jarvis Christian (15), and Texas A&M-Texarkana (11) round out the final spots in the top eight.
 
SCOUTING XAVIER (LA.)
XULA is 10-3-1 on the season and 9-2-0 in RRAC play. They are riding a seven-game winning streak into the week. The Gold Nuggets have not lost at home since October 19, 2023 when they fell 2-1 to the University of Houston-Victoria.
 
Gustavo Oliveira leads XULA with eight goals and five assts for 21 points. Leonardo Menzen has recorded six goals and three assists for 15 points.  Two his goals have been game winners. The Gold Nuggets have six multi-goal scorers and a total of 12 different goal scorers on the season. They are averaging 3.27 goals per game.
 
In goal, Breno Zanolla has handled all 11 starts. He has allowed 12 goals and made 32 saves. Zanolla has a goals against average of 1.17 with two clean sheets. The Gold Nuggets have allowed just 46 shots on goal this season.
 
The Generals are 0-1-1 against the Gold Nuggets all-time. They played to a 0-0 draw during the regular season before meeting again in the RRAC Tournament, where the Gold Nuggets captured a 1-0 victory.
 
Kick-off is scheduled for 1:30 PM on Thursday, October 31.
 
SCOUTING NORTH AMERICAN
The Stallions are 5-9-2 on the year with a 3-6-2 mark in RRAC play. They split a pair of matches last week against Huston-Tillotson and Houston-Victoria, defeating the Rams, 5-2, before falling to UHV, 4-1.
 
Alejandro Perez, Joseph Figueroa, and Joan Remo C Morales lead the Stallions with three goals and one assist each. Ryota Ishizuka has recorded a pair of goals and two assists, while Wilman Landaverde and Eric Landvaerde have both scored twice with one assist. The Stallions have scored 22 goals in 15 games, averaging 1.47 goals per game.
 
Gino Burioni has handled 14 of the Stallions' 15 games in goal. He has allowed 32 goals and made 44 saves. The Stallions have a goals against average of 2.44.
 
The Generals are 1-0-0 against the Stallions all-time. They recorded a 6-1 victory over North American last season.
 
Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
