HAWKINS, Texas – Chaz Badeaux's second goal of the season lifted the Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team over Jarvis Christian University, 1-0.
Badeaux's goal came in the 35
th minute.
Joshua Angel Craven laid a corner kick into the box, where Badeaux redirected it past the keeper to give the Generals (6-3-1, 4-0-1 RRAC) the lead over the Bulldogs. It was a strikingly similar result to the Generals' match against Jarvis Christian in 2022, where LSUA came away with a 1-0 win on the road. Badeaux scored the match's lone goal in the first half then as well.
LSUA sent 12 shots towards the Bulldogs' goal, eight were on target.
Adam Sherwood led the Generals with three shots, all of which were on goal.
George McKenzie,
Alfie Lee, Angel Craven, and Badeaux each recorded a shot on target.
In goal,
Valeriu Tarlev made four stops. The first came in the 15
th minute, keeping the score level at 0-0. The second came just four minutes after Badeaux's goal with the final two in the second half. The clean sheet was Tarlev's second of the season.
Rhys Fuller was also credited with a defensive save in the waning seconds of the first half.
"The boys dug deep today and pulled out a massive win," LSUA Head Coach
Mackenzie Young said. "This is a really tough place to go and to come away with a win is a huge result. I'm really proud of this group"
The Generals are back at home next week for two more Red River Athletic Conference matches. They host Louisiana State University Shreveport on Thursday, October 10, at 3:30 PM on the Generals Soccer Field in the week's first test.
