PREVIEW | Men's Soccer Hosts RRAC Leading Pilots and Eagles in Conference Play

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team opens a four-game Red River Athletic Conference homestand with matches against LSU Shreveport and Texas A&M-Texarkana.
 
"It's great to be back at home for the next four matches after two successful road trips last week," LSUA Head Coach Mackenzie Young said. "These next two games are very important in regard to how things will look at the end of the season for playoffs. Both teams have had strong starts and LSUS is leading the conference. The boys are excited for it!"
 
The Generals (6-3-1, 4-0-1 RRAC) picked up a pair of wins over Texas College, 5-1, and Jarvis Christian, 1-0, last week. Chaz Badeaux scored in both games, including the game-winning goal against the Bulldogs.
 
SCOUTING LSU SHREVEPORT
Sitting atop the RRAC table, the Pilots are 7-2-2 on the season with a 6-0-0 mark in RRAC play. They have won six straight games to open RRAC play, including last week's 1-0 win over Xavier University of Louisiana and a 4-1 win over North American University. The Pilots have not lost since September 10, when they fell 2-0 to Williams Baptist.
 
Jack Thomas leads the LSU Shreveport offensive attack with six goals and two assists for 14 points. Guillermo Ferriero has scored four goals and added two assists for 10 points. The Pilots have goals from 10 different players on the season, six of them scoring at least twice. As a unit, the Pilots have scored 23 goals on 137 shots. They have conceded 12 goals on 83 shots.
 
Kyle Mcleish has made eight starts in nine appearances in goal for LSUS. He has allowed 10 goals and made 24 saves. He currently holds a goals against average of 1.31 with three clean sheets. Mcleish has a record 5-1-1.
 
The Generals are 2-6-0 all-time against LSU Shreveport. The Pilots have taken the last three meetings between the two sides. The last two matches were both one-goal contests.

SCOUTING TEXAS A&M-TEXARKANA
The Eagles enter the week with a record of 4-5-2, including an RRAC record of 2-3-1. They split a pair of matches last week against North American University and Xavier University of Louisiana. They opened the week with a 1-0 victory over NAU before falling to XULA, 5-1. The Eagles are 1-2-1 away from home.
 
Diego Picano has recorded eight goals on the season, over half of all goals scored by the Eagles. He has one assist for 17 total points. Six other Eagles have a goal each. Picano is shooting 27.6 percent on the year with 15 of his 19 shots on target. He is also 3-for-3 in penalties and has scored two game winners. The Eagles have scored 14 goals as a unit and conceded 25.
 
Seth Brown has started all 11 games in goal for the Eagles. He has allowed 25 goals and made 45 saves. Brown has recorded a pair of clean sheets and has a goals against average of 2.44.
 
The Generals are 3-2-1 since 2018 against the Eagles. In the last three meetings between the two sides, the series sits at 1-1-1. The Eagles claimed a 2-1 victory last season in Texarkana. The Generals and Eagles played to a 1-1 draw in 2022. LSUA notched a 4-2 victory in 2021.

Admission to men's soccer games for spectators is free. The Generals Soccer Field is located on the back of LSUA's campus between Acorn Drive, Middleton Drive, and Tom Bowman Drive. Seating is located on the south side of the field. Game programs are available at the pitch.
 
Game Programs are available free of charge and can be found on the outside of the left ramp of the bleachers and in the center of the bleachers. Concessions are also available.
