ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team squares off against No. 2 seed Xavier University (La.).
"It's tournament football," LSUA Head Coach
Mackenzie Young said. "It's just about getting over the line. It was a bit too close for comfort for me to get over in the fashion we did. Pablo has been brilliant all season for us. It's just nice to go through. It's semifinal football in Texarkana, at a neutral site, anything can happen. It was one of our main goals for the season, so it's nice to check that box."
The Generals picked up a last second win over Texas A&M-Texarkana in the RRAC Quarterfinals. Pablo Dominguez de León scored with 30 seconds left to lift LSUA to victory, 2-1. Dominguez de León earned his second RRAC Player of the Week selection.
SCOUTING XAVIER (La.)
The Gold Nuggets are 13-3-1 overall and 11-2 in RRAC play. They recorded a 3-0 victory over Jarvis Christian in the Quarterfinals.
Gustavo Oliveira leads XULA with eight goals and five assists for 21 points. Leonardo Menzen is close behind with seven goals and three assists for 17 points. Artur Rubim (5), Julio Grub (4), Leo Dutra (4), and Nasser Benbella (4) are the remaining multi-goal scorers. The Gold Nuggets have scored 39 goals as a team.
Breno Zanolla has handled the majority of duties in goal for XULA. He has allowed 12 goals and made 33 saves. He has recorded three clean sheets and holds a goals against average of 1.07.
Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
