Women's Basketball Picks Up Road Win Over TAMUT, 77-67

TEXARKANA, Texas – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's basketball team notched a road win over Texas A&M-Texarkana in a Red River Athletic Conference match-up, 77-67.
 
"We got a tough win on the road," LSUA Head Coach Billy Perkins said. "I'm proud of the team win."
 
Jewel Jones led the Generals (5-1, 2-0 RRAC) with 18 points. She knocked down a pair of threes and finished a perfect 10-for-10 from free throw line. Jones also recorded six assists. Benedetta Peracchi finished with 15 points, shooting 6-for-9 from the field. She also recorded six rebounds. Amani Gray notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

LSUA shot 42.9 percent from the field. The Generals recorded 30 points in the paint, 11 second chance points, 12 points off turnovers, and the bench chipped in 20 points. LSUA totaled five steals and 19 assists.
 
After taking a one-point lead into halftime, 27-26, the Generals extended the lead to six in the first four minutes of the third quarter with a 9-4 run. Peracchi knocked down a trio of shots, while Gray added in a three.
 
A jumper from Kelly Norris with 27 seconds remaining in the third gave LSUA a 50-41 lead, before three free throws from the Eagles dropped the lead to six heading into the fourth quarter. The Generals shot 64.3 percent from the floor in the third, including nine points from Gray. She notched a 4-for-6 mark from the field in the quarter.
 
Free throws from Peracchi early in the fourth quarter brought the Generals' lead to double digits for the first time. Peracchi led the Generals with eight points in the final period. They extended the lead to 64-51 with seven consecutive free throws.
 
 LSUA went 14-for-16 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter. Jones went 6-for-6, while Peracchi, Addison Walker, Emilee Totino, and Norris each knocked down a pair.
 
The Generals are back at home on Tuesday, November 19, as they host Texas College at 5:30 PM in The Fort.
