RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team fell in an exhibition, 77-50, against NCAA DI opponent Louisiana Tech.
"Hats off to Coach Hester and the La. Tech basketball team," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "We will learn from this film. There's some areas that we have to clean up defensively and offensively. That's on me, we will get them fixed."
Kashie Natt led LSUA with 17 points.
EJ McQuillan totaled nine points, while
Jakemin Abney and
TJ James both recorded seven points. Braydon Thompson led the Generals with six rebounds. McQuillan and Natt both finished with five.
LSUA's bench recorded 20 points. The Generals scored 12 points in the paint, eight points off turnovers, and tallied five second chance points. They also grabbed 13 of their 37 rebounds off the offensive glass.
The Generals led for the first 12 minutes of the game, taking their largest lead of the game at 17-9 with 11:31 remaining in the opening stanza. The Bulldogs whittled away at the Generals' lead with a 20-3 run, taking a 29-22 lead with 4:09 to play in the first.
LSUA held the Bulldogs to a 37.5 shooting percentage in the first half, including a 4-for-15 mark from beyond the arc. The Generals finished the opening 20 minutes even in rebounding, at 22-22.
La. Tech controlled the second half, outscoring the Generals 47-24. Early second half buckets from McQuillan and Natt kept the deficit to single digits, but the Bulldogs expanded their advantage to 11 with 11:58 remaining in regulation and did not look back.
The Generals are back in action on Saturday, November 9, as they travel to the reigning NAIA Champions, Freed-Hardeman University for their final non-conference game before Red River Athletic Conference play starts on November 12.
