ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team scored 45 points in the second half to take down North American University, 77-67.
 
"It was ugly, but kudos to the guys for answering the challenge at halftime," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "In the first half, we got beat. They were tougher and more disciplined. That's not our brand of basketball. Kudos to our guys for the challenge we put on them in the second half to be tougher and come out more disciplined."
 
Kashie Natt led the Generals (11-1, 8-1 RRAC) with 16 points and 18 rebounds. His 18 rebounds ties the second-most rebounds in a single game in LSUA history, tying Natt with Gilbert Talbot against LSU Shreveport in 2017. He finished 6-for-13 from the field and 4-for-4 at the free throw line. Five of his 18 rebounds were offensive. Natt also recorded four assists, one block, and one steal. Jordan Decuir recorded 14 points. He finished a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, including a 3-for-3 mark from deep. Brayden Thompson recorded a pair of blocks and two steals, along wight eight points. The Generals recorded 34 points in the paint, 18 points off turnovers, 19 second chance points, and the bench chipped in 36.
 
LSUA trailed for the first 11 minutes of the first half, before a three from Nicholas Kaigler shifted the lead to the Purple and Gold, 19-18. Another three from Decuir made it 22-18. The Stallions reclaimed the two minutes later, 26-24, with an 8-2 run. The Stallions took a 34-32 lead into halftime.
 
A three from EJ McQuillan on the Generals' first possession of the second half put LSUA ahead 35-34. Kaleb Pouncy converted a layup on the next possession for a 37-34 edge.
 
The Generals' lead stayed within a possession until a 12-0 run opened up a 14-point lead. Natt, Thompson, Xavier Smith, and Bryce Journee all tallied buckets during the run.
 
LSUA's expanded to as many as 18 in the second quarter; the Stallions battled back, cutting the lead to just eight with 2:33 left in regulation, 73-65. A pair of free throws from Pouncy and Kheiri Haynes salted the game away in the final minute, sealing a 77-67 victory.
 
The Purple and Gold are on the road next week as they face Texas A&M-San Antonio and Our Lady of the Lake University. LSUA takes on the Jaguars on Thursday, December 19, at 7:30 PM in San Antonio, Texas.
