ALEXANDRIA, LA-The Generals are now 6-0 to start the 2024 season with a nail-biting win over the number 23 ranked, William Carey.
The first four innings were a battle of the pitchers as batters went down in the order one by one. However, the fifth inning is where things got interesting. Top of the 5
th, William Carey put up the first run, and went for another, but a huge tag out at home held them to only one run as the inning ended.
Bottom of the fifth with both Giddens and Jones on base,
Jenna Marler stepped up and delivered a huge hit bringing both Giddens and Jones home putting the Generals up 2-1.
Despite going cold at the plate, the Generals defense held strong to pull out the victory.
Taylor Spencer now, 3-0 on the mound, faced 26 batters only allowing five hits in seven innings. Spencer also struck out six.
Next up, the Generals will be at home against John Melvin on February 15
th. First pitch is at 3:00 pm and game two to follow.
