ALEXANDRIA, LA - LSUA cannot add to Friday's heroics as they fall to Shreveport in two close games.
Game 2:
LSUA v LSUS is always an intense match-up, and this weekend was no different. The Generals took a 10-0 victory on Friday, so the pilots knew they needed a big performance to be competitive on Saturday. LSUS started bright and took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 3rd. By the top of the 5th, the pilots were able to extend their lead to 4-0. In the bottom of the 5th, the Generals responded and finally got a run on the board.
Blaise Foote hit a sac fly to center field to get
Dominic Thibodeaux home to make it 4-1. The Generals had the bases loaded on several occasions but could not turn bases into runs. After some good pitching from both teams, the game finished 4-1 in favor of the pilots.
Game 3:
With the series tied at 1-1, we all knew game 3 was going to be a nail-biter. The pilots once again started brightly and had a 3-0 advantage by the top of the 4th. The Generals immediately stepped up their game and responded in the bottom of the 4th with a crazy 4 run play. With the bases loaded,
Jacob Martin hit a low bullet to right field which moved
Dezmon Dugas from 1st to 3rd base, and got
Keegan Garcia and
Blaise Foote home from 2nd and 3rd base. Just when it looked like
Jacob Martin was going to settle for a 2 rbi single, an error from the pilots right fielder caused mayhem.
Jacob Martin and
Dezmon Dugas continued to run the bases, and both managed to get home to make the score 4-3 in favor of the Generals.
The Pilots instantly responded to tie the game at 4-4 in the top of the 5th, and then took a 5-4 lead in the top of the 6th. In the bottom of the 7th, the generals tied to game once again as
Judge Boudreaux got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and
Dominic Thibodeaux walked home. In the top of the 9th the pilots scored once more to win the game 6-5.
Next up for the Generals is a trip to Louisiana Christian for a 3-game series on March 1st and 2nd.
