Generals Shine on Senior Day

ALEXANDRIA, LA-The Generals took home field for one last time of the 2023-2024 softball season, in a Red River Athletic Conference match up with the Gold Nuggets of Xavier University where they completed a Senior Day Sweep.

GAME ONE: LSUA 9, XULA 4
Able to strike gold first were the gold nuggets of Xavier in the first inning of play, but after that first inning, Haley Fontenot's mac and cheese kicked in as she homered in the 3rd inning to light a fire under her teammates. The Generals went on to put up a total of eight runs in third inning with the help of 2 homeruns from Fontenot, and a senior shot from Destiney Jones as she sent one flying over left field.
Taylor Spencer took to the circle for one last time on the Generals field pitching all seven innings, working around the scrappy Gold Nuggets who were looking for an upset.

GAME TWO: LSUA 9, XULA 1
The lucky number of the day for the Generals was 9, as the second game they put up nine runs compared to the Gold Nuggets one, taking game two in six innings.
Haley Primrose pitched yet another gem as she allowed only 4 hits, one run, and struck out seven.
In the batter's box, Haley Fontenot came out of game two 3-3 with two RBIs, Haylee Ladner was 3-4 with 2 RBIs, and Amber Giddens went 1-2 with 2 RBIs as well.

Next up, the Generals will travel to Hawkins, TX as they close out conference play with the Bulldogs of Jarvis Christian. Game one starts at 12:00 PM.
