ALEXANDRIA, LA- After a late start due to rain, the Red River Athletic Conference Softball Tournament kicked off today with the #2 seeded Generals facing and defeating Texas College for game one. They then went on to face the Jaguars of UHV for game two, where they saw another victory.
GAME ONE: LSUA 6, TC 0
Two words, Haley. Primrose.
Primrose took the circle for the Generals pitching all seven innings of play allowing only three hits, no runs, and striking out 11 Steers.
With Prim unstoppable, allowing no runs, the Generals just had to do their part which started off early in the first inning of play as
Madi Baker's single to right field brough in Ladner for the first run of the game. The Generals went on to put up four more runs before
Haylee Ladner closed things out with solo homerun and run number 6 of the game.
GAME TWO: LSUA 3, UHV 0
In a battle of the pitchers, both teams struggled to get on the scoreboard.
Taylor Spencer was nearly un-hittable in game two for the Generals as she pitched all seven allowing only three hits and no runs.
The Jaguars saw a shot to bring a runner in, in the third inning, but Generals defense saw a clutch throw out at home that started the momentum they needed as
Madi Baker came up in the 4
th inning with a three-run shot over left-field to lift the Generals to their second victory of the day and keeping them in the winner's bracket.
Next up the Generals will face the No. 1 seeded Saints of Our Lady of the Lake at Louisiana Christian on Sunday, May 5
th. First pitch is set for 4:00 PM.
