ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team is on the road for a pair of non-conference matches over Labor Day weekend, travelling to No. 22 Bethel University (Tenn.) and Freed-Hardeman University.
"We are excited for our first long trip of the season," LSUA Head Coach
Mackenzie Young said. "Both games will be tough tests for us, our goal is to go up there and compete well. We are still learning a lot about ourselves in this non-conference period and getting better every day."
The Generals (2-1-0) are coming off a 1-0 win over the University of Science and Arts (Okla.).
SCOUTING NO. 22 BETHEL (TENN.)
The Wildcats are 3-0-0 to open the season with a pair of clean sheet victories. Bethel has played just one game at home, the season opener against Bryan, which they won 2-0. The Wildcats host Thomas (Ga.) on Thursday, August 29, prior to welcoming the Generals on August 31.
Through three games, the Wildcats are out scoring their opponents 8-1. Hubert Oduya Kompany and Alvin Oguta lead Bethel with two goals each. Prince Badu, Gregory Cousins, Stanley Isaac, and Goffin Oyirworth has also added goals.
In goal, Diego Camargo has played all 270 minutes for the Wildcats. He has recorded 11 saves and two clean sheets.
The Generals and Wildcats last met on September 4, 2023 when Bethel claimed a 2-0 victory.
Kick-off is slated for 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 31.

SCOUTING FREED-HARDEMAN
The Lions are also 3-0-0 on the season. All three wins have been clean sheets. Freed-Hardeman has tallied 15 goals on the season, including eight goals against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, and a six-goal affair against Ecclesia. In the Lions' last outing, they nabbed a 1-0 victory over Blue Mountain Christian. Freed-Hardeman hosts IU Columbus on Sunday, September 1, before playing the Generals on Monday, September 2.
Freed-Hardeman has 11 different goal scorers thus far in 2024. Noah Setterberg, Saban Bell, Felipe Benavides, and David Okantey have each scored a pair. Seabata Ts'emane leads the Lions in points with six (1G+4A=6TP). Through three games, the Lions have taken 60 shots and held opponents to 13.
Orlando Whiteside Jr. has started all three games for Freed-Hardeman in goal. Over 180 minutes, he has made three saves. Eduardo Almansa has relieved him twice, compiling 90 minutes and two saves.
Monday's match will be the first time LSUA and Freed-Hardeman meet.
