With 5:09 left in the second half, the Generals trailed by 10, 68-58. LSUA chipped away to tie the game wit just 37 seconds left, 77-77, on a layup from McQuillan. Free throws from Williams with seven seconds left put the Eagles ahead but McQuillan was sent to the line with three seconds left and sank both his shots to tie the game at 79-79.

McQuillan scored the first basket of overtime but seven unanswered points from the Eagles put them ahead 86-81. Decuir converted a layup before a three from TAMUT's Cook pushed the Eagles edge to six, 89-83.
