TYLER, TX – A late second-half push from the Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team propelled them to an 88-75 victory in the final game of the 2025 calendar year.
"Kind of the same story as Thursday night," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "Had a lot of letups in the first half, but kudos to our guys in the first half for being able to withstand and finish the half and tie the game. Then they take the challenge at halftime and go win the second half by 13."
EJ McQuillan and
Jordan Decuir led the Generals (7-5, 4-2 RRAC) with 25 points each.
TJ James recorded 10 points as well. The LSUA bench recorded 42 points. The Generals scored 30 points in the paint, 18 second chance points, and shot 52.8-percent from the field. The Purple and Gold also knocked down 25 free throws.
Jason Rosenberry Jr. led the Steers (2-10, 1-5 RRAC) with 29 points, while Tyren Thomas recorded 11.
The contest featured a level score 12 times and nine lead changes.
Texas College erased an early five-point Generals' lead, taking the lead 22-20 with 9:02 left in the first half. They extended their lead to eight, 44-36, with 1:38 left in the first half.
A three and a free throw from McQuillan, a jumper from Decuir, and a pair of free throws in the half's final second from
Courtney McCarthy tied the game, 44-44, heading into halftime.
The second half stated much the same as the first, neither team able to wrest control and command a lead.
With nine minutes to play, Decuir knocked down a free throw and followed with a layup in the Generals' next possession. After another Decuir free throw and a pair of free throws from TC's Thomas, a three from McQuillan put LSUA ahead by five, 69-64.
LSUA's lead dipped to three with four minutes left, 76-73. From there it was all LSUA. A 14-5 run in the final five minutes in favor of the Generals pushed the score line from a four-point different at 74-70 to the final, 88-75.
