ALEXANDRIA, LA – The No. 12 Louisiana State University of Alexandria (0-2, 0-0 RRAC) women's tennis team fell to No. 11 Dillard University (6-3, 0-0), 5-2.
"We knew Dillard had a tough team this year," LSUA Head Coach
Melinda Descant said. "They did outperform us, though I saw some very positive outcomes. We still have some work to do."
DOUBLES
Dillard claimed all three doubles matches.
Valentina Gomez and Brunella Gomez defeated
Joline Roesch and
Nahia Echaide, 6-0, in No. 1 Doubles. In No. 2 Doubles, Truc Tran and Anja Hriblijan defeated
Kanu Rajawat and
Gianna Panaggio, 6-3. Weichiao Chen and Hang Nguyen defeated
Isabella Stuurman and
Belen Blasco, 4-3 (ret.), in No. 3 Doubles.
SINGLES
Panaggio and Roesch recorded victories on the singles side for LSUA.
Panaggio tallied a 6-0, 7-5 [7-1] win over Hriblijan in the No. 4 Singles. Roesch captured a 6-3, 2-1 (ret.) victory over B. Gomez in the No. 6 Singles.
Echaide fell to Nguyen, 7-5 and 6-3 in No. 1 Singles. In the No. 2 Singles, Tran defeated Rajuwat, 6-4, 6-2. Blasco fell to Chen, 6-2 and 6-1, in the No. 3 Singles. In the No. 5 Singles, Stuurman took V. Gomez to the tiebreaker, but fell just short, 6-4, 7-5 [10-8].
