ALEXANDRIA, LA –The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team dropped its series finale against Texas A&M-Texarkana, 17-5.
"We tried a little bit of a different approach today with our starting pitching and he did well," LSUA Head Coach Kody Gautreaux said. "He gave up some hits there in the second inning and they drove his pitch count up a bit. They can hit, we knew that coming in. To win two out of three against them, we know that's a team that's going to be in the postseason conversation at the end of the year. For us to come out and win two out of three, I'm proud of the guys. Not the way we wanted to end the day, but we just have to come back out and work as we have another quality opponent coming up in William Carey."
The Eagles (23-11, 12-6 RRAC) collected 18 hits in the win and scored in every inning.
LSUA (16-19, 10-8 RRAC) managed five hits.
Dezmon Dugas recorded a pair, while
Zach Mengarelli,
Lane Patin, and
Jaxon Bernard each had one. Mengarelli,
Blaise Foote, and Bernard had an RBI.
Foote's RBI came on a groundout in the fifth. Bernard and Mengarelli each drove in their run in the sixth inning. A passed ball allowed
Brett Batteford to score in the sixth and
Landon Langley scored on a wild pitch.
Carter Fabre (4-3) was charged with the loss. He allowed eight runs on seven hits.
The Generals head to William Carey on Wednesday, April 2, for a mid-week game. They then host Texas College on Friday and Saturday.
