No. 8 Softball Sweeps Jarvis Christian

HAWKINS, TX – The No. 8 Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team swept Jarvis Christian University in a Red River Athletic Conference Doubleheader, 3-2 and 8-0.

GAME ONE | LSUA 3, JCU 2
Kirsten Martinez (1-0) went the distance for the Generals (37-5, 20-2 RRAC) to earn a complete game win.
 
Martinez allowed just three hits and one earned run. She struck three and walked three.
 
Haley Fontenot drove in a pair and finished 1-for-3. Julia Kwakernaak had the Generals third RBI and also went 1-for-3 at the plate. Madi Baker had LSUA's final hit and scored a run. Kamille Lightfoot and Molly Sistrunk accounted for the Generals' other runs. Sistrunk drew three walks.
 
The Generals scored one in the first and two in the second for a 3-0 lead. Martinez held the Bulldogs off the board until they plated a pair in the seventh.
 
GAME TWO | LSUA 8, JCU 0
LSUA put up runs in four separate innings in the backend. They scored one in the first, two in the second, two in the fourth, and three in the fifth.
 
The Generals collected seven hits, including two each from Baker, Kwakernaak, and Jillian Howell. Kaetlyn Dunbar, Baker, Howell, and Rylie Jeau Theriot each recorded an RBI.
 
Alyssa Soileau (13-1) tossed a five-inning, complete game shutout. She allowed just three hits and walked just one.
