WAXAHACHIE, TX – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team tamed Nelson University, 2-1, in a non-conference match.
The Generals (3-0-0) out shot the Lions (1-1-1) 12-8.
"Another good, tough road win," LSUA Head Coach
Mackenzie Young said. "To go two-for-two in these long away trips is difficult, so I'm proud of the boys to see the game out and get over the line today."
Mnqobi Mbili and
Damian Kunc tallied goals for LSUA. Kunc's coming as the game winner.
Ivan Capurro made one save in goal.
Omolemo Matia notched the Lions' only goal, finding the back of the net in the 7
th minute of play.
The Generals scored the next two goals, Mbili's coming just a few minutes shy of the first half whistle. Kunc found the go-ahead marker in the 62
nd minute for a 2-1 lead.
Capurro and the Generals held off three second half chances from the Lions to preserve the 2-1 lead.
LSUA takes in Southwestern Christian in their next match on September 6. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 PM in Bethany, Oklahoma.
