ALEXANDRIA, LA – The (RV) Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team routed Texas College, 7-0.
The Generals (7-1-0, 2-0-0 RRAC) fired 27 shots and scored six of their seven goals in the second half. They held the Steers (0-5-0, 0-2-0 RRAC) to just six shots.
"Slow burner today," LSUA Head Coach
Mackenzie Young said. "Texas College was set up in a way to frustrate us, sat in a low block for most of the game. I think the boys did a good job of adapting. We noticed we were struggling early on in the game; I think we realized in the second half everything was out wide and that's where we could hurt them. I think the subs that came into the game did really well. They increased the level of play we had and increased the standard; you can see in the second half we opened the scoring."
Damian Kunc opened the scoring in the 26
th minute, heading in a corner from Diego Cadabón. It was the only goal of the half.
Cadabón notched a penalty in the 56
th minute to make it 2-0.
Juan Buitrago made it a 3-0 game with his second goal of the season after collecting a pass from Pablo Dominguez de León.
Javier Moscardo was next on the ledger, firing a left-footed shot past the keeper for a 4-0 lead in the 74
th minute.
In the 79
th minute,
Mackenzie Vincent found the back of the net for his second of the year.
Kunc added his second header goal, again off a corner this time from
Maximo Romagnoli, in the 89
th minute.
The final game came on a back-heeled shot from
Ben McCarron, who slipped a cheeky chance past the keeper to make it 7-0 in favor of LSUA.
LSUA is on the road for a pair of matches next week against Our Lady of the Lake and Texas A&M-San Antonio. They take on the Saints on Thursday, October 2, at 3:00 PM.
