Person Scores 30 as Generals Fall to Jaguars, 85-76

SAN ANTONIO, TX – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's basketball team fell to Texas A&M-San Antonio, 85-76, in a Red River Athletic Conference game.
 
"I'm very proud of our group's effort today," LSUA Head Coach Billy Perkins said. "It was a tough physical game but we just couldn't get over the hump."
 
Sydney Person led the Generals (6-8, 5-4 RRAC) with a career-high 30 points. She shot 12-for-20 from the floor, including three treys. Person knocked down all three of her free throws. Kelly Norris finished with 14 points.
 
LSUA scored 30 points in the paint and their bench chipped in 25 points.
 
Kierra Sanderlin led the Jaguars (12-4. 9-1 RRAC) with 21 points off the bench. She was one of four TAMUS players to reach double digits. Aniyah Lewis tallied 19 points.
 
The first half was a tight battle through both quarters but the Generals took a 22-21 into the second quarter thanks to a layup from Person in the final possession of the first.
 
A 10-4 run for LSUA to open the second pushed their advantage to 32-25, their largest lead of the game. Sydney Person scored eight of the Generals' points in the run.
 
Six minutes later, the Jaguars tied the game at 38-38 with a layup from Victoria Adeniran.
 
Trading buckets for the quarter's final moments, the Jaguars took a 44-43 lead into halftime.
 
San Antonio owned the third quarter, out scoring LSUA 25-13. The Generals won the fourth quarter, 20-16, but could not overcome the deficit.         
 
Norris scored seven points in the fourth quarter for LSUA.
 
The Generals have a trio of games next week. They travel to Xavier (La.) on Tuesday before hosting Southwest (N.M.) and North Texas-Dallas.
