SHREVEPORT, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's basketball team dropped a Red River Athletic Conference game to Louisiana State University of Shreveport, 78-54.
"LSUS is a tough place to play," LSUA Head Coach Billy Perkins said. "I'm proud of our composure and effort to finish the game."
Sydney Person led the Generals (9-12, 8-8 RRAC) with 15 points.
Princis Goff came off the bench for 11 points.
Salma Markisic led the Pilots' (19-2, 15-0 RRAC) offense with 23 points. She was joined by Toni Coleman (15), Sam Slusarek (12), and Katie Ambrose in double digits.
The Pilots led from the first basket on; a three from Slusarek opened the scoring 14 seconds in. They extended the lead to nine, before Young recorded LSUA's first points. LSUS led 19-12 at the end of the first quarter.
Person knocked down two of her four shots in the second quarter for four points, but LSUS out scored the Generals 20-13 in the period for a 39-25 lead headed into halftime.
Midway through the third quarter, a three from Goff cut the deficit to 11, 46-35. The Pilots, however, extended their lead to 18, 58-40, heading into the final period.
LSUS reached a 20-point differential with their first basket of the fourth. They reached their largest lead of the afternoon with 1:31 left in regulation, a 24-point gap.
The Generals are back at home next week to play Texas College and Jarvis Christian. Saturday's game against Jarvis Christian will be Senior Day.
