"I'm proud of our guys for fighting through the adversity tonight," LSUA Head Coach Jake DuPree said. "First road game and we accomplished the goal of going 1-0. We didn't play our best, especially on the defensive side of the court. We are much better defenders than what we showed tonight but we were able to get the crucial stops down the stretch. Staying together until the end helped us win this game tonight. Credit to Mobile, they came to play."
LSUA shot 50-percent from the floor in the first half, taking a 48-42 lead into halftime over the Rams (0-1). They held a 20-16 rebounding advantage in the first 20 minutes and knocked down seven of their attempts from long range compared to just three for Mobile.
The Rams chipped away at the Generals' lead and tied the game with 9:32 to play, 63-63.
A back and forth battle left the Generals trailing by three in the final minute of regulation, before a trey from
Connor Morris levelled the score, 81-81. Morris' three came after Walker II scored five consecutive points for the Generals to keep them in the contest. Free throw from Haynes tied the game at 65-65 with 8:40 to play.
Walker II scored the first two buckets of overtime to give LSUA an 85-81 lead. Free throws from Morris and
Ju'Juan Ray extended the lead to five, 88-83.
After a free throw from Mobile, Walker II salted the game away with a pair of free throws for the 90-84 win.
The Generals travel to No. 14 Loyola University New Orleans on Tuesday, November 3, for their next regular season contest.
