No. 24 Men's Soccer Rallies from Down Two but Falls to TAMUSA

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Lucas O'Donnell scored twice as the No. 24 Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team dropped a Red River Athletic Conference match to Texas A&M-San Antonio, 3-2.

"Always a hard place to come to and get a result," LSUA Head Coach Mackenzie Young said. "I'm proud of the boys for fighting back from two goals down but ultimately, we weren't good enough with our individual battles and suffered three goals from that. It's a tough one to take and one we'll have to bounce back from as we look to another big game on Saturday."

The Generals (7-2-3, 3-1-0 RRAC) were out shot 16-12. Jayden Peglar made four saves in net for LSUA. Dominic Pena recorded four saves for the Jaguars (7-2-1, 3-1-0 RRAC).

An explosive second half saw all five goals with four coming in the 65th minute or later.

Atter 50 scoreless minutes, Gomez Ortega struck for the Jaguars. He took a ball from Emiliano Perales an fired his chance home. Christian Guerrero doubled the Jaguars' advantage 14 minutes later.

The Generals struck back in the 65th minute with a goal from Lucas O'Donnell, pulling them within one.

A headed effort from Genis Alcaide Armengol in the 73rd went wide of the post. In the 78th minute, Peglar stopped a chance from Juan Chavez to keep the one-goal differential.

O'Donnell found the equalizer in the 81st, tying the game at 2-2.

Shay Meagher and O'Donnell had a pair of quick chances in the 82nd and 83rd minutes but they were kept out by the defense. Chris Williamson was denied a minute later as the Jaguars survived the flurry of chances.

Nawfal Hadj-Hamou put the Jaguars back on top in the 87th minute, 3-2.

Pablo Novoa Martin and Zac le Stavri both had chances in the final three minutes but they were rebuffed.

LSUA returns home to host Louisiana Christian University on Saturday, October 10, at 3:30 PM.
