Men's Basketball Records Homecoming Win Over OLLU, 64-55

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team improved to 19-7 on the season, and 16-4 in Red River play, with a 64-55 victory over Our Lady of the Lake University.
 
EJ McQuillan led the Generals scoring with 16 points. He went 8-for-8 at the free throw line. Courtney McCarthy recorded 11 points, while Jordan Decuir chipped in 10. TJ James notched a team-high 14 rebounds. LSUA recorded 26 points in the paint, 16 points off turnovers, 12 second chance points, and the bench recorded 27.
 
DJ Smith led the Saints (15-10, 14-6 RRAC) with 20 points. He finished 6-for-8 from the field and 6-for-7 at the free throw line. Barack Holland recorded 14 points.
 
The Generals led for 83.5-percent of the game, holding the lead for 33:25. The Saints managed to lead for just 5:25, or 13.5-percent of the contest.
 
Our Lady of the Lake struggled to shoot the ball effectively in the first half, knocking down just 32.0-percent of their shots from the field and went 2-for-5 from the free throw line.  LSUA also struggled from the field in the first half, converting on just 32.35-percent of their chances. They managed three more baskets than the Saints, 11-8 in the first half, and went 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
 
The Generals led 31-23 at halftime. They never trailed after the 10-minute mark of the first half.
 
OLLU's shooting struggles continued in the second, knocking down just 37.04-percent of their shots. They went 2-for-10 from long range, but did convert 12 free throws. The Generals, meanwhile, converted on 40-percent of their shots from the field and went 17-for-18 at the free throw line.
 
After staking out an eight-point lead in the first half, the 33-32 second half score line ensured the Generals' victory.
 
LSUA closes the regular season on the road next week against North Texas-Dallas and the University of the Southwest (N.M.).
