ALEXANDRIA, LA -- The Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team swept Southwest in their first Red River Athletic Conference doubleheader, 2-0 and 14-2.

GAME ONE | LSUA 2, USW 0
Lainee Bailey (5-1) went the distance for the Generals. She struck out nine and allowed just one hit over seven innings of shutout work.

The bats were quiet until the fourth inning when the Generals strung together base runners.
Julia Kwakernaak led off with a double to right center and was followed by
Kaetlyn Dunbar drawing a walk.
Jillian Howell laid down a sacrifice bunt, moving both runners into scoring position with one out. After a strikeout for tinning's second out and
Caitlyn Riche drawing a walk,
Molly Sistrunk laced a single to right center and plated both Kwakernaak and Dunbar for a 2-0 lead.

Bailey struck out five over the last three innings to secure the victory.

GAME TWO | LSUA 14, USW 2
The Generals changed the tone of the first game and erupted for eight runs in the opening inning of the second game against the Mustangs.

Haley Fontenot was the first to spring to action with a double to left field to bring in
Sophia Romero in the first inning. Fontenot then scored on a wild pitch later in the inning. Kwakernaak was able to put one on the board, scoring on an RBI double by Dunbar. Bailey launched a two-run home run to left field to stretch the lead 5-0. Sistrunk then doubled in a run before a throwing error a batter later allowed her to score. The Generals capped the inning with an RBI infield single from Fontenot to take an 8-0 lead.

LSUA continued to add to their lead in the second when Riley Theriot singled up the middle to score
Kilee Moody.

Southwest managed to get on the board in the third, pushing across two on a throwing error.
Â
The Generals quickly answered in the bottom half of the inning with another RBI single from Fontenot.
Alyssa Soileau followed with an RBI triple to right center, and
Livie Thibodeaux added an RBI double to right field to push the lead to 12-2 in the third.

To cap the scoring, Lightfoot blasted a two-run homer to left field for a 14-2 lead.
Â
Soileau (1-2) earned the win. She threw two shutout innings and allowed just one hit.
Alyssa Boutte and
Rylee Guillot both tossed an inning of shutout work.
Cate Nettles allowed two runs, one earned, in one inning in the circle.
