GULF SHORES, AL – The No. 16 Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team bounced back from a tough opening day to take down No. 8 Central Methodist University, 10-2, before falling to (RV) Campbellsville, 4-0.
GAME ONE | LSUA 10, CMU 2
The Generals scored 10 runs on 11 hits, while stealing seven bases against the Eagles.
Lainee Bailey went the distance. She allowed just two runs on seven hits and four walks. Bailey struck out seven.
Kilee Moody finished 3-for-4, while
Haley Fontenot collected a pair of hits and drove in two.
Jillian Howell,
Alyssa Soileau, and
Kamille Lightfoot each drove in a pair as well.
A double steal from Juila Kwakernaak and Fonteont in the first allowed Fontenot to sneak home. Kwakernaak then scored on a ground out for a 2-0 lead in the opening frame.
An inning later, Fontenot doubled home Lightfoot and
Sophia Romero for a 4-0 lead.
Soileau went opposite field for a two-run single in the third, scoring
Jaycie O'Conner and Moody in the third. The Eagles found the scoreboard in their half of the inning on an infield single from Maddie Holly.
In the fifth, an RBI single from Lightfoot drove in Riche and Howell but the Eagles answered back with another RBI single to make it 8-2.
Howell launched a two-run blast in the sixth to make it 10-2.

The Generals' bats were held in check in their fourth game of the Gulf Shores Invitational.
Kirsten Martinez (2-2) was charged with the loss. She allowed four runs on seven hits over 2.2 innings. She struck out one.
Rylee Guillot hurled 4.1 innings of shutout relief, striking out nine, and allowing just two hits.
Fontenot recorded a pair of hits, while Romero, Howell, and Bailey each recorded one.
Leah Holland went the distance, struck out seven, and allowed just five hits and one walk.
All four of the Tigers' runs came in the third. Jessie Daniels doubled home the first, before Macy McCoy singled in Daniels. Rylee Warner then doubled to score McCoy.
