#2 Softball Survives Second Elimination Game With 11-3 Win Over #4 Morningside, 11-3

CHICKASHA, OK – A pair of multi-run innings propelled the two-seeded Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team to an 11-3 victory over four-seeded Morningside (Iowa) as they staved off elimination for the second time.

Kilee Moody and Lainee Bailey each drove in a pair, while Haley Fontenot, Sophia Romero, Jillian Howell, Julia Kwakernaak, and Caitlyn Riche each plated a run. Bailey (18-7) recorded the win. She allowed just one run over four innings on four hits and two walks.

Morningside (31-20) put the game's first run on the scoreboard with an RBI single from Josie Hernandez in the third.

The Generals (36-17) responded a half-inning later. Romero drove a single into right field to drive in Fontenot. Bailey then singled home Moody for a 2-1 lead. Howell followed with an RBI knock of her own before Kwakernaak produced an RBI on a ground out. Riche closed the third inning scoring with an RBI single up to right field for a 6-1 lead.

Emma Barwick drove in two runs for the Mustangs in the sixth, cutting LSUA's lead to 6-3.

In the Generals' half of the inning Fontenot reached on an error and rove in Ryleigh Moran. Moody then forced a bases-loaded walk before Bailey singled up the middle for an 11-3 advantage.

LSUA takes on one-seeded University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma tomorrow, May 13, at 1:00 PM.
