#3 Baseball Eliminated by #1 Webber in NAIA Opening Round

KINGSPORT, TN – The three-seeded Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team was eliminated from the NAIA Opening Rounds by one-seeded Webber International (Fla.) in a 9-0 game.

The Warriors (38-18) scored nine runs over two innings, pushing across four in the third and five in the fourth. A two-run home run off the bat of Jalen Martinez opened the scoring in the third. Steven Nitch later drove in Ty Mathews with an RBI single. Will Gisriel followed suit with an RBI double to plate Kaleb Henry for a 4-0 lead.

A three-run home run from Tugg Hollandsworth in the fourth made it 7-0 Warriors. Gisriel closed the scoring with a two-run single to left later in the inning.

Mason Veronezi (9-1) threw a complete game shutout. He allowed just two hits and one walk. He was perfect for three innings before issuing a walk to Dalton Wilson in the fourth. Shae Thibodeaux broke up the no-hitter in the sixth with a single up the middle.
