LSUA Claims Third Consecutive Red River Rivalry Title

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria Department of Athletics has, for the third consecutive academic year, won the Red River Rivalry.
 
The Generals posted a 12-1 record against their crosstown rival over the 2025-26 season.
 
"We are excited the Rotary Bridge Trophy will continue to stay at LSUA for another year," Assistant Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Tyler Unsicker said. "We are extremely proud of what our teams and student-athletes have accomplished in the Red River Rivalry this season. We'd like to thank current Rotary President Mike Upton and Robert Taylor for their support in getting the Red River Rivalry going and sponsoring the Rotary Bridge Trophy."
 
A single point is awarded for a regular season victory in each sport. There are a total of 13 points available for the 2025-26 year. The institution with the most points at the end of the academic year claims the Rotary Bridge Trophy.
 
LSUA clinched the Rivalry on April 7 with a 6-1 victory in women's tennis. The Generals took the doubles point with wins in the first and third pairings. Nahia Echaide and Lucie Ivanova recorded a 6-0 win in No. 1 doubles, while Esthella Valentina Gonzalez Saiza and Isabella Stuurman won 6-1 in No. 3 doubles. LSUA proceeded to take five of the six singles duals with wins from Echaide, Stuurman, Ekaterina Orlova, Gonzalez Saiza, and Valeria Diaz.
 
During the fall, both men's and women's soccer recorded home wins over the Wildcats. Men's soccer notched a 2-0 clean sheet victory with goals from Juan Buitrago and Pablo Dominguez de Leon. On the women's side, the Generals routed the Wildcats, 6-0. Alexia Bermejo Jo and Sara Escribano Garcia-Miguel both scored twice. Audrian Cruz and Linnea Lundstrom also added goals.
 
In men's basketball, the Generals opened their conference slate with a 75-61 win over LCU in Pineville. Jordan Decuir led LSUA with 19 points. TJ James (13) and Norman Beckford (12) also finished in double digit scoring. LSUA then opened 2026 with a 67-61 win on January 3. Four Generals scored 10 or more points, led by EJ McQuillan's 18 points.
 
LSUA women's basketball also took both ends of the season series against Louisiana Christian. They recorded an 81-70 on November 25 in Pineville. Princis Goff (16), Justice Young (15), Sydney Person (13), and Kelly Norris (11) led the Generals' offense. Young recorded a double-double, adding 11 rebounds. In their return home on January 3, the Generals posted a season-high 27-point margin over the Wildcats, 77-50. Young (17), Person (12), and Reese Stephens (10) all finished with 10 or more points. Young had another double-double, finishing with 11 rebounds.
 
Baseball posted a 2-1 series win over the, then-ranked, No. 19 Wildcats. Michael Sutton recorded his eighth win of the season in the 7-5 series opener. Colin Ardoin logged a four-inning save and allowed just two hits, while striking out three. Lane Patin drove in a pair, while Cade LaBruyere, Dalton Wilson, and Evan Rohlfs-Schadel each drove in one. In the series finale, Carter Fabre tallied his seventh win of the season and struck out seven as the Generals won 13-3. Cameren Parks went 3-for-4 with three runs batted in. Wilson and Patin also drove in a pair each. Joshua Tinnerello triggered the 10-run run with a walk-off solo home run on Senior Day.
 
LSUA Softball swept the Wildcats, including a pair of run-rule wins. LSUA took the opener 15-3 behind a 13-run first inning. The Generals recorded eight extra base hits during the offensive, two of which came off the bat of Lainee Bailey. She hit two home runs in the inning. Bailey and Kilee Moody both drove in four runs. In the second game of the series, the Generals scored eight runs over the first three innings. Sophia Romero drove in three, while Moody and Kaetlyn Dunbar drove in a pair each. Bailey earned her 16th win of the season, allowing just two hits over five shutout innings. She struck out nine. Rylee Guillot recorded a complete game shutout in the finale. She struck out four and allowed just three hits in a 3-0 win. Moody, Bailey, and Moody drove in a run as the Generals secured the sweep on Senior Day.
 
LSUA baseball, softball, and women's tennis are all headed to the NAIA National Championship Opening Rounds next week.
 
LSUA's 12 points marks a Rivalry high for accumulated points over a single year.
