PREVIEW | Women's Soccer Opens 2026 With Road Trip to Tennessee

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team opens their 2026 regular season with a pair of road matches against Freed-Hardeman University and the University of Tennessee Southern.

THE GENERALS
LSUA is coming off an 11-8-1 season in 2025. They recorded an 8-2-1 mark in Red River Athletic Conference play.
 
The Generals outscored their opponents 62 to 34 in 2025, averaging 3.10 goals per game. They held their opposition to just 208 shots.
 
While LSUA lost 2025's leading goal scorer, Alexia Bermejo Jo, they return Sara Escribano Garcia Miguel and her 10-goal performance a season ago. Escribano registered 25 total points in her freshman season, earning a spot on the RRAC All-Freshman Team and an RRAC Honorable Mention nod.
 
The Generals return their full complement of goalkeepers, including Yanira Herraez who made 11 starts in 2025.  Herraez recorded a 6-4-1 record with four clean sheets, 25 saves, and a goals against average of 1.52.
 
SCOUTING FREED-HARDEMAN
The Lions posted an 0-15-1 record in 2025, including an 0-6-0 mark in the Mid-South Conference.
 
FHU scored just 10 goals and allowed 65 for a goal differential of -55. Opponents averaged 23.9 shots per game against the Lions. Ellie Wood recorded a team-high four goals, while Isabel Croke led the Lions with 11 points (3G+5A=11TP).
 
In goal, Ava Pierce made 14 starts and 95 saves. She posted a goals against average of 4.19 and faced 208 shots.
 
LSUA is 1-0-0 against the Lions all-time. The Generals recorded a 3-0 victory on September 5, 2017 in Henderson, Tennessee.
 
SCOUTING TENNESEE SOUTHERN
The Firehawks finished the 2025 season with an 11-6-2 overall record and a 7-3-1 mark in the Southern States Athletic Conference. They were 7-1-0 at home.
 
As a team, Tennessee Southern outscored their opponents 69 to 30, averaging 3.83 goals per game. The Firehawks held their opposition to 10.2 shots per game while taking 19.3 themselves. Kamila Tayebi led the scoring with 15 goals and three assists for 33 points. Millie Rayner finished the year with 14 goals.
 
Stephanie Hodgson posted a 10-6-2 record in the woodwork for Tennessee Southern. She registered five clean sheets and 58 saves, while posting a goals against average of 1.76.
 
LSUA is 0-1-0 all-time against the Firehawks. UTS captured a3-2 victory over the Generals on August 27, 2025. Escribano and Bermejo Jo scored for LSUA.
