ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team took down Mid-America Christian University, 4-1, in their penultimate non-conference match.
Ava Little scored her first goal of the season before Sara Escribano Garcia-Miguel scored back-to-back, and
Emma Kate Rogers found the back of the net for her first career goal. All four goals came in the second half.
The Evangels (3-5-1) held a slim 4-3 advantage in shots in the first half before the Generals (4-3-1) out shot them 10-3 in the backend for a 13-7 total advantage.
Rosina Mastro capitalized in the 24
th minute, heading a corner kick from Stephanie Arrivillaga home for a 1-0 lead. MACU held the lead into halftime.
Coming out of the halftime break, the Generals found their stride offensively and scored two goals within 40 seconds just five minutes into the second half.
Little tallied the equalizer, taking advantage of a miscue from the Evangels' defense.
Escribano then scored, taking a pass from Little and beating the keeper.
Just under nine minutes later, Escribano tallied again. She turned and fired a shot off a pass from
Nelly Dallmann to make it 3-1.
LSUA's final goal came off the foot of Rogers. She fired a shot through traffic to make it 4-1 Generals.
LSUA is back home on Saturday, September 19, for their final non-conference match against Texas Wesleyan at noon.
