ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team dominated the University of the Southwest (N.M.), 9-0 in their Red River Athletic Conference home opener.
The Generals (7-3-1, 2-0-0 RRAC) registered 28 shots and held the Mustangs (0-7-0, 0-2-0 RRAC) to just four.
Sara Escribano Garcia-Miguel recorded four goals, giving her seven on the week. She opened the scoring in the 17
th minute, taking advantage of a failed clearance for a 1-0 lead.
Ava Little made it 2-0 in the 23
rd minute with a chip over the keeper.
Escribano added her second five minutes after.
She completed her second hat trick in as many games in the 32
nd minute.
Sacha Backus then scored direct from a corner kick in the 34
th minute.
Escribano added a fourth goal just seconds later.
LSUA led 6-0 at halftime.
Ariana Lowenstein kicked off the scoring in the second half, netting her first of the season in the 59
th.
Backus added her second goal to make it 8-0 in the 61
st.
Annick van Pijkeren scored her second of the season in the 79
th for a 9-0 lead.
The Generals are on the road next week for a pair of games against Our Lady of the Lake University and Texas A&M-San Antonio.
