Poropat comes to Alexandria from St. Louis, Missouri and Fontbonne University where he has served as the associate head men's and women's soccer coach since 2005. In that time, the women's team won the 2012 conference championship and, over eight seasons, the men's team compiled a 53-13-12 conference record including eight consecutive conference tournament appearances and a trip the national tournament in 2006.
Poropat has also been involved in the Olympic Development Region 2 Program since 2010 by helping identify, evaluate and train potential ODP players. From 1999-2004 he was the technical director for Gateway Strikers Soccer Club, with the responsibilities of camp director, tournament director and developing coaching curriculum. He also served as an assistant soccer coach for the St. Louis Lions of the United Soccer League from 2008-2012.

Poropat graduated from Missouri Baptist University with a Bachelor's in Communications & has earned a Master's in Education from Fontbonne University. Further, he holds the USSF National "A" Coaching License, and the NSCAA Premier Diploma.
