Zeilman joined the Generals' staff for the 2012 season.

He had many firsts at LSUA as he led the team to its first winning season, the most wins in school history, a World Series appearance, a regional appearance, a regional championship, a conference championship and an NAIA national ranking. In 2014, Zeilman was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association's College Coach of the Year as well as the A.I.I Conference Coach of the Year.

Prior to his stint at LSUA, Zeilman served two years as the pitching coach at Americas High School in El Paso, Texas. While at Americas, the Lady Trailblazers compiled an overall record of 69-9, winning back-to-back 1-5A district championships and a Texas Regional Quarter-Final Championship in 2011. His pitchers won the El Paso Times player of the year award in 2010 and 2011.

Earlier in his career, Zeilman was hired as an assistant baseball coach at Bel Air High School in 1998. After a one year stint as head baseball coach in 1999 at Gadsden High School (Anthony, New Mexico), Zeilman returned to Bel Air where he served for 8 years. He was a part of three bi-district championships and led his team to the school's last Texas state playoff appearance in 2005.

Zeilman received his B.S. in secondary education from the University of the Southwest in 1997.
