Coach Breaux begins his 1st year as head coach of the LSUA softball program after 22 years at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. Breaux built a nationally ranked program at Evangel with the Crusaders winning 10 conference championships from 1996-2009, that also included a record 6 consecutive titles from 2004-2009.
During this stretch, Breaux’s teams were ranked in the top 20 NAIA national poll numerous seasons with a top 10 ranking in 2006. Other accomplishments were 13 NAIA-NFCA All-Americans, Player of the Year (5 X), Pitcher of the Year (4 X), Freshman of the Year (3 X), Newcomer of the Year (4 X), Conference Coach of the Year (6 X) and NAIA Regional Coach of the Year (2 X). His Evangel team was also crowned as Team Scholar of the Year in 2008 for their classroom work as the top ranked academic team in the nation. While at Evangel, Breaux established 640 softball career wins and 930 overall wins as a softball-baseball coach. During 2004 and 2008, Breaux also coached a group of Midwest All-Stars that competed against the USA National Softball team preparing for the Olympic games.
Breaux graduated from Evangel University in 1982 with a double-major (Psychology-Theology) and completed a Master of Science degree from Missouri State University in 1986 (Counseling Psychology). In 2014, Evangel University inducted him into their Athletic Hall of Fame. Breaux’s athletic career continues at LSUA taking over a team that has made two consecutive trips to the NAIA World Series.
In addition to his head coaching duties, Breaux will also serve LSUA as Assistant Athletic Director. He is originally from Lake Charles, Louisiana graduating from LaGrange Senior High School. Breaux played minor-league baseball for a Houston independent league under former MLB pitcher Don Nottebart (Houston Astros). He is married to Mary Frances (Cantrell).
