Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Araujo's Record Day Leads To Generals Victory

The LSUA women's soccer (4-4 overall, 2-2 RRAC) team came out with passion as they won at home against the Texas A&M San Antonio Jaguars.

The General's outscored the Jags 3-0 while putting in an outstanding performance.  Not only did LSUA go home with a win, but broke several LSUA women's soccer school records. The quickest goal in LSUA history was scored today in just less than 50 seconds after the whistle was blown. Andressa Araujo, with a sensational goal from a free kick, also broke the school's record for the most goals in her time as a Lady General, scoring 22 goals becoming the all-time goal scorer. Coach Mark Hammond was very pleased by Andressa and had proud words to say about the young footballer.

"What a moment for Dessa. It's hard to think of anyone who has been part of the LSUA Soccer program that deserves it more. I've worked with many players over the years and she is at the top of the list for dedication to improving herself. I was made aware at the beginning of season she was close to breaking the record and it was a privilege to be there to see her do it."

While having pride in his midfielder, Dessa, Coach Hammond took gratification in the team as a whole.

"The squad put in a very professional performance today. We were hungry from the start and it was a boost to open the scoring early. I asked for attitude and focus and got it in abundance."

The Generals face the Pilots from Shreveport away on Thursday October 6th before returning home on Saturday October 8th vs. Texas A&M Texarkana.
