The LSUA men's basketball team kicked off the 2022-2023 season with an 88-77 win at The Fort against the North American University Stallions. 
 
The first half, both teams were battling hard, trading baskets each possession. The Generals went into halftime leading 33-32. However, coming out in the second period, North American went on a quick run scoring 10 points before the Generals answered by locking in on defense, causing the Stallions to turn over the ball 10 times. The Generals took full advantage of these turnovers by scoring 55 of their 88 points in the second half. 
 
Collectively the Generals shot 52.8 from the field with Kashie Natt and Jakemin Abney leading with 17 points each. Kashie, a new face for the Generals, also led in rebounds grabbing 9 boards. 
 
"I think I played good today," Natt said. "I hustled and did a lot of things to help us win and that is what I will continue to do."
 
Following today's win, here is what Coach Larry Cordaro had to say: "We played a quality opponent who was amped up to start their season just like we were. We had to play hard in the second half to defend the fort and that's exactly what we did. We picked up our defense full court which led to some key offensive opportunities. Having a deep bench also played a pivotal part in today's win. LSUA basketball has always been about balance, and that looks like what we had in the scoring column. Everyone contributed and played their role. It's always nice to start the season with a win at home in front of your fans. However, we've got to put this one behind us and get ready for the next opponent." 
 
The Generals will be back in action October 30^th at The Fort to take on the Fort Lauderdale Eagles at 5:00 PM.  The LSUA student-athletes will be hosting a trunk or treat activity prior to the game at 4:00pm at the LSUA Tennis Courts.  All kids that come to the activity in costume will also get into the game for free.
