The women's basketball team kicked off their 2022-2023 season on the road at LSUS for a two-day invitational where they faced the Dillard Bleu Devils, falling 61-74.

The Generals were quick to attack with
Raegan Ojoro winning the tip leading to a quick transition bucket by
Gracelyn Adams, assisted by
Dannah Martin-Hartwick. Both the Generals and the Bleu Devils competed for the first two periods keeping it a close game, but the Bleu Devils went into halftime leading 33-24.

Coming out of the half, the Generals kept their fighting energy and effort up which lead to them only trailing 44-47 at the end of the 3rd period.Ā A key three pointer by
Dannah Martin-Hartwick and a jumper by
Amani Gray who had 13 points of her own for the day, put the Generals on top, 53-52,Ā in the 4
thĀ period with 6:30 remaining. However, the Bleu Devils answered back offensively and took full advantage of foul calls on the Generals, leading to their 61-74Ā win.Ā

Leading scorer for the Generals, Alex Harrison, who had 16 points and 6 rebounds stated, "I feel like I played alright, but it was not my best. If anything, today's game has shown me what areas of my game need improvement. I have high expectations for tomorrow, we didn't play well today but we did fight hard. The first game jitters are out of the way and tomorrow we can go out there and play our kind of basketball and hopefully come out on top."
