The women's basketball team took on the Langston Lions for day two of the LSUS invitational, coming up short, 44-69.
The Langston Lions came out with the hot hand to start off the first period scoring 31 of their 69 points. The Generals matched Langston's 8 points in the 2
nd period and 13 in the 3
rd. However, the Generals were unable to get things going on the offensive end and Langston's defense caused the Generals to have 31 turnovers on the day.
Alex Harrison and
Amani Gray both had another good day leading the generals in scoring with 9 points from Harrison and 13 points from Gray.
"I feel like I played pretty good," said
Amani Gray, a sophomore from Gonzales, "I did my all to bring energy on both ends of the court and tried my hardest to play my role, helping the team the best way I can. The team and I had a really low free throw percentage that could have helped us in the long run. We will work on this for following games as well as limiting turnovers.
Putting the new season jitters behind them, Gray also stated, "For the season as a whole, I can't wait to see how far we go. Even though we lost these first two games, we have seen a lot of growth. We are a new team, new system, and new coaches. Once we mesh, everyone better watch out because we will shock a lot of people."
The Generals will continue their season on the road against Southeastern Louisiana, November 7
th at 5:00 PM.
