The Lady Generals faced the undefeated Texarkana Lady Eagles in an intense battle and were unable to break their winning streak. The Eagles came out strong making it a difficult match for the Generals but it was a good fight on both sides of the pitch. The Eagles opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the first half and were able to maintain their lead until Andressa Aruajo came to the rescue. She scored a free kick from 25 yards out from the goal making it 1-1 going into halftime. She had a few words about her goal to tie the game:
" The feeling of tying the game was amazing... The goal gave me and my teammates the necessary confidence to get back into the game. I was not expecting to score so many freekicks in my career, it is definitely a special feeling."
The second half ultimately came down to the team who wanted it more. The Lady Eagles took it from the Generals ending the game with a 2-1 victory. The Generals, angry from defeat, still feel pleased with a great performance. They fought hard until the last whistle, attacking the goal every chance they got. Andressa speaks on how this result will push her team to come back for their next battle:
" The effort was definitely there. We created chances but we need to work on finishing better and taking these chances with more frequency. It was a good fight and will unite the team even more. The conference is more competitive than ever and we need to stick together and look to get the most out of the next few games"
The Generals will train hard this week for their home game on Saturday, October 15th when they face their cross-town rival the LCU Wildcats.
