Texarkana TX -- The Generals advance to the Final of the RRAC Women's soccer tournament by way of a 3-0 win over the University of Houston - Victoria Jaguars on Thursday afternoon.

After 90 minutes of play and some near misses by both teams, the game moved into a new overtime format that started this year.  The new rules state that the teams will play two 10 minute overtimes and if there is still no score, the game will be determined by shootout.  One other change this year is that there is no longer a golden goal.  If a team scores in the OT, they will still play the full two 10 minute overtimes.

The Generals were playing without two of their top goal scorers in Svenja Klamt and Andressa Araujo who have both been out with injuries, so the Generals have had to get goals from a variety of people the last half of the season and that was no difference on Thursday afternoon.  The Generals were able to score in the 95th minute on a header from freshman Alexia Bermejo assisted by Micah Pond.  In the second 10 minute overtime another freshman Theresa Langauer was able to score in the 104th minute.  Then just for good measure Charlotte Mcconachie was scored from the top of the box to make the final tally 3-0.

LSUA will now move on to play in the final on Saturday November 12th at 1:00pm vs. the host school Texas A&M University Texarkana Eagles.  In the regular season, TAMUT was able to get the better of LSUA at Generals field 2-1.   The winner of the final will earn the automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament that will be announced on Monday November 14th.
